A little bit about me:

If someone had told me when I was at school that I would be making a living by sticking false lashes on clients, I would never have believed them. I am a fully qualified beauty therapist and have vast experience in this industry, but I prefer to call myself a lash stylist or lash artist. I particularly like using the word artist in my job title as going to the Glasgow School of Art was a dream, unfortunately, one that I never fulfilled. Although applying lashes sounds simple to do, it is a very precise treatment that I have spent years perfecting.

I have been self-employed since I left college and I have never worked for anyone full time… ever! Being on my own is a situation I find myself in continually, but it seems to work well for me. The ups and downs of being self-employed can be tough but also very rewarding. I learned a lot very quickly, mainly by making a multitude of mistakes and engaging in the criticism and feedback of my customers.

I love learning and I am currently studying with the Open University. I like to do a bit of drawing as you will see from my illustration below, this is of a salt and pepper shaker set that is displayed in my kitchen (which there is a story behind and I will share on here soon…)

Why subscribe?

I’m not entirely sure… I seem to have found myself here, on my writing journey, or journey of life… I’m getting a bit jaded with writing the word ‘journey’. I attempted to find other words to use instead of ‘journey’ and I got: adventure, expedition, trip, voyage, venture… these words may fit in to some life experiences but do not fit well for me as my ordeals with grief.

Above all, I want to share my experiences with you. Feel free to comment on how you manage your own encounters with the ups and downs of life which could be any unexpected event, grief, suddenly being on your own, whether that be through a divorce or death. If anyone can relate to even one thing I have mentioned here, please subscribe and we can go through this ‘journey’ together.
